    Capacity Building Bill C 92

    The Government of Canada is providing funds in support of the Capacity Building Bill C 92 implementation respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families. The act enables Indigenous groups, communities, or peoples that hold rights recognized and affirmed by section 35 of the Constitution Act, 1982 (thereafter referred to as “Indigenous groups, communities or peoples”) to exercise jurisdiction over child and family services.

    Indigenous communities, with a legal mechanism such as the Capacity Building Bill C 92, will finally be able to exercise their inherent jurisdiction over the care and protection of their own children and families. Piikani Child and Family Services is fully committed to amending the current legislation so that child and family service funding is in accordance with the traditional laws and values of the Piikani people.

    PCFS is seeking an experienced Project Manager, who will be expected to work with a team of professionals and report to the Piikani Child and Family Service Board of Directors. The ideal candidate must be:
